Şişli is one of the most beautiful boroughs of İstanbul.
In Şişli, it is possible to find the deep traces of the westernization movements of Ottoman period in architecture.
Şişli is like an urban museum which contains the conception of 19th century western architecture combined with it’s own characteristics.
The application for the renewals of the building facades which is carried out in the district was s step and had the purpose to bring out this grand look by the removals of the air-conditioners, signboards which used to cause an anarchy and made the beautiful looks of the buildings disappear specially in the parts like Nişantaşı and Teşvikiye. Now, this sampling step is continues on the avenues of Halaskargazi and Cumhuriyet.
Additionally, we are keeping the memories of important people alive who have lived in our borough and have left deep traces in the history with the services they have done in their times. They are always remembered with the meaningful services of our Municipality.
Together with this, an embossed work plequette was made to the Valikonağı avenue home of architect Vedat tek who was one of the great masters of the Republican period and who was also Pioneer of first National Architecture Current, the architect of valuable buildings such as the first TBMM building, Çankaya Kiosk, Sirkeci Grand Post Office.
A monument was made and place in Teşvikite square in the name of Hüsrev Gerede, who was one of the unforgettable names of our Independence War and Republic History and Atatürk’s companion in arms.
The monument which represents peace, friendship and love was made in the name of our pres martyr, Abdi İpekçi, and it was placed in the same place where he was assaulted.
